Bought these for walking to work on the hilly streets of San Francisco on the worst rainy days. They’ve worked fantastic so far!No need to break these in. They are as comfortable as my five year old leather boots. I plan to use them on easy terrain. I'm not sure they'd be great for back country hike, though.Less than 50 miles in these shoes and the soles are separating from the shoe. Like BAD! The toes have completely flapped of the front. A huge section of the right shoes toe area completely chunked off. The sole part that connects near the foot arch completely separated and small rocks we’re getting in between the sole and shoe. These are a zero in my book just on this. To bad the rest of the shoe has performed well. But what good is a shoe with no soleUrban hiking.Go to shoe for just being cool around town, walking around, or a long hike on a difficult path.I usually ware a 9.5 wide but this shoe is a perfect fit in a 10 Med. Not tight in the toe box and not too long. I really like the regular double eyelets at the top instead of hooks, as this lets me ware them like slip-ons when I'm lazy and third after a long hike. Also they keep my feet dry when snow blowing and have a good grip. My feet stay cool when riding my bike ( Love the Gortex). Be sure to check prices prior to buying as they very considerably.I have walked the Camino de Santiago five times. Each time with different boots. Some boots began feeling heavier than needed when walking the 500 miles. Others even with Vibrum soles wore through before trips end. And others, I have returned to REI who honorable accepted my rejects. My boot hunt continued.I now have near two hundred miles of mixed trail and road walking on my Moab Speed Mid GTX and I am happy with the comfort, support and wear. I intend to buy a new pair for my next Camino to celebrate my eightieth or maybe even sooner a practice Camino this year with my new favorites.Keeps feet dry and warmGreat boot and keeps feet warm without overheating. I thought goreTex would feel like plastic bag but it is actually comfortable and perfect for all day rain in Vancouver. Size 11.5 fits good with a decent thickness sock.
